Special Focus
With decades in project management, working on different types of projects, with leading companies, and worldwide, Mounir has extensive, practical project management expertise! However, we focus here on his top three areas of interest

Capital Investment Projects:

Capital Investment Projects (also known as Capital Projects, or Construction Projects: Mounir has a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Construction Management from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990. After graduating from UC Berkeley, and for the next 15 years, Mounir worked on numerous capital projects in the Petrochemical and Petroleum Industry. He worked in various roles, such as estimating, project control, project engineer (manager), and project support manager. He managed multiple small projects inside an operating petrochemical plant. He also worked on three megaprojects, in charge of project support and control.

Consequently, Mounir has seen success and failure. He understands the root causes of failure and the factors that contribute to project success. All of the learning from these real-world experiences led Mounir to write Leading Megaprojects, A Tailored Approach, a book published by CRC Press, a Taylor & Francis company (2019).

Organizational Project Management:

Over the years, Mounir has spent a great deal of time contributing to the project management body of knowledge by writing and sharing knowledge (books, videos, blog articles, speaking at conferences, etc.). However, before knowledge sharing, we needed knowledge creation. Therefore, Mounir led the SUKAD Way™ Project Management Framework development, which includes the Seven Elements of Project Management Maturity™. The Seven Elements is the SUKAD Consultancy Model for helping organizations build their organizational project management systems. Our focus is to go beyond building the system. We emphasize the need to sustain it by embedding a project management culture and the advocacy for recognizing project management as an equal function to all other organizational functions.

Project Management Methodology:

Since 2007, Mounir has focused on developing and enhancing a project management methodological approach that organizations can use, regardless of the project type, size, or complexity. That work is CAMMP™, The Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Managing Projects™. Currently, CAMMP™ is on the third iteration, Version 3, which Mounir documented via his book, Project Management beyond Waterfall and Agile, published by CRC Press, a Taylor & Francis company (2017).
